Marlin and Roosterfish Bite Off the Charts in Part Thanks to La Niña
La Niña sets the stage for a fantastic marlin and roosterfish bite !
Over 75 Marlin Released in December and the month isn’t over! Looks like it’s going to be another BLUE YEAR!
Anglers seeking marlin and roosterfish this December have not been disappointed with some anglers releasing double digits in roosterfish inshore.
We can hardly believe that this is the beginning of our 19th season of ownership! Each year, we spend June through October coming up with new and fresh ideas of how to make this Lodge an even better experience for our guests than the year before and this season is no exception. The Zancudo Lodge has once again been transformed! Starting with the entire fleet being reconditioned with new Yamaha 300hp engines, brand new wraps and the best Simard electronics. Our 44 Contender has been repowered with Yamaha 450hp and a permanent Starlink antenna has been installed to bring connection to every corner of the Osa Peninsula. Our Lodge accommodations have been updated with new furnishings and the restaurant offerings are revamped with a more farm and sea to table friendly menu.
It’s La Nina this year! The last time we had this weather pattern, the fishing was fantastic for the entire season. So far, history is again repeating itself. We have already caught over 75 Blue Marlin since opening on December 1st. Almost daily, the fleet is finding big schools of tuna with many in the 50lb-80lb range. We have landed countless numbers over 100lbs as well.
Inshore has been super steady with some boats catching more than 10 roosterfish on any given day.The only low count species this season is the dorado where last season, it was hard keeping them off our lines. It’s a matter of time but we’re sure they’ll be showing up soon!
Nice yellowfin tuna with an assist from Bubba Gaffs and BKK Hooks!
Space is very limited with one opening in February and then the next available during the last week of March. The second quarter is still a great time to fish and the great marlin and roosterfish bite should continue with sailfish moving into the mix as we enter the new year, so please call us at 1-800-8548791 to plan your next Ultimate Fishing Adventure!
