Record Fishing, Tournament Victories, and Unforgettable Memories at The Zancudo Lodge
As another incredible fishing season comes to a close, we want to thank our guests, captains, crews, and friends from around the world who made the 2025–2026 season one of the most memorable in Zancudo Lodge history.
From spectacular offshore action and trophy yellowfin tuna to back-to-back tournament victories, this season showcased everything that makes Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast one of the world’s premier sportfishing destinations.
A Season Defined by Exceptional Fishing
The waters off Zancudo delivered outstanding fishing throughout the season. Anglers enjoyed consistent action from a wide variety of species, including yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, sailfish, roosterfish, cubera snapper, and other prized gamefish that attract fishermen from around the globe.
Whether guests were casting poppers for aggressive roosterfish along the coastline or heading offshore in search of tuna and billfish, nearly every trip offered memorable encounters and exciting opportunities.
The unique location of Zancudo Lodge continues to provide access to some of Costa Rica’s most productive fishing grounds. Combined with experienced captains, modern vessels, and a passionate team, the result was another season filled with personal bests and unforgettable stories.
Success on the Tournament Circuit
One of the highlights of the season came during the prestigious Bisbee’s Costa Rica Offshore Tournament.
Fishing aboard Team Z-1, the Zancudo Lodge crew delivered an impressive performance, weighing yellowfin tuna of 138.1 pounds and 142.3 pounds during the competition. Their efforts earned Third Place in the Tuna Jackpot division and a payout exceeding $73,000. The strong showing demonstrated the skill of the team and further established Zancudo Lodge as a serious competitor on Costa Rica’s tournament circuit.
Back-to-Back Battle of the Bay Champions
If the Bisbee’s performance was impressive, the Battle of the Bay provided the perfect finale.
For the second consecutive year, Team Zancudo Lodge captured the Battle of the Bay championship, successfully defending their title against a talented field of competitors from throughout the region.

The victory was a testament to teamwork, preparation, local knowledge, and the determination that has become a hallmark of the Zancudo Lodge fleet.
Winning one championship is difficult. Winning back-to-back titles confirms the consistency and professionalism of the anglers, captains, and crews who proudly represent the lodge.
More Than Just Fishing
While the catches and tournament victories were certainly exciting, the true highlight of every season remains the people.
Throughout the year we welcomed returning guests who have become part of the Zancudo Lodge family, along with first-time visitors experiencing Costa Rica’s incredible fishing opportunities for the very first time.
From sharing stories at the lodge after a successful day on the water to watching anglers land dream fish they have pursued for years, these experiences are what make each season special.
